Notes from dan.
Soo….. we are starting our open beta sign up. We are including the following in our beta game packets. I feel that everyone who is interested in us, or products should take a look and get to know us a little better.

Who we are.
Avant: Latin: Something New or out of the ordinary
Novis: A story, or as verb; to tell a story.
Avant Novis: A new way to tell a story.
Avant Novis is a company that was founded in 2018 by Adi and Dan James, and Andrew Stredbeck. The goals of the company is to provide income to the Employees, Provide a structured environment for creative design and innovation, and to never be a Corporate Shill.
Our mission statement will always be “Enrichment Through Entertainment.”
We have been developing this game for the last 20 years. It started as a system that we could play with our friends and family where we could make our own game elements and unique worlds.
In the last 20 years we have developed, modified, tweaked, adjusted and re-written, what is now, the Split Dice System. This is a “fever dream” that has helped keep us sane through the last few years, and pandemics. This product is the legacy of our friends and families imagination and desire to provide “Enrichment Through Entertainment.” Also and most importantly the second we stop having fun is the second this endeavor of “winging it” ends.
We feel that the best thing that we can do, and the most needed product that we can create; needs to help people make their own creations but be balanced by rules and guidelines.
We are a VERY small group of people who wanted to create their own game elements. In regards to other systems of different TTRPG games: We feel that there are too many restrictions for a person’s creative imagination and not enough tools and mechanics for people to make their own creation. and not be restricted in using their imagination. We want to make a game system that acts as a frame work so others can build their own creations.
The employees of Avant Novis come from varied individuals for all walks of life, background and religious beliefs and traditions. We seek to make a game, and tools for people to create their own experiences. We want to make money, hire more people and put out more products for people to use.
These are our Ideals and philosophies.
We are realistic idealists. Regardless of We have been through life, we know what it is like to get screwed over. We have known sorrow and pain. We try to see the world as it is, not through proverbial rose colored glasses. Regardless of all the ugliness life has thrown at us will not stop in trying to be our best selves. Some would say that this is no way to do business, in response to them we ask “so… how is that going for you and everyone else.” We're having fun and we still like ourselves.
We have very strong feelings on the sentiment “it's only business.” It is NEVER just about making money. Every cent a company takes in has a real life value that directly affects people. People's money and time are resources that belong to them to do with what they want. We seek to create products that are worthy of people’s resources. No one should be made to suffer for our paycheck or anyone else's.
We will be making mistakes, we will do our best to own, fix and correct them. But in the end they are our own mistakes, not anyone else's.
This is how we do business.
We don't under promise and over deliver. This creates unfair expectations between us and those who we do business with. We tell you what our product is, what it does, and what it can offer you.We let our customers decide if this is something they want. If our customers are not happy with it we will do everything we can reasonably do to fix it, update it or even give you your money back.
We have a duty to protect the following. Our employees. Our intellectual properties and design. Our Business. The quality of our products. Our customers' ability to use our products how they want.
Our customers' ability to create and profit from their own creations, using the tools and mechanics we give them.
Honesty in intentions, expectations and communication.
We try to communicate as human beings regardless of our flaws, not as a corporate shill.
Communicate and interact with everyone ethically, legally, responsibly and respectfully.
We will do our best to not be dicks.
We have and will always hold ourselves accountable to the choices we make as a company, both good and bad.
Our feelings about a community
WE WANT a community! We would love a community of creators and fans. we are part of the community not the overlords of one.
One of the most important parts of our business is the communities that we are involved with. We will Promote healthy, ethical communities around our products. We do not own a community, we are part of the community, if they will have us. If there is something in a community that is unethical, harmful, illegal or infringes on anyone's rights we will speak up and fight against it.
Other motives
This is a game company. We have no ulterior motives other than creating fun games and products to let others create their own. This is our “lane.” Make a game, let people buy it, have fun. We fully acknowledge that we have our own opinions on how a business should be run, how our game should be played, and how people should treat others in communities that we are a part of. These are our opinions.
This business feels that the following is none of its business;
What your religion is.
Who you believe in and who you worship.
What political affiliation is.
What your gender or personal orientation.
How you spend your money or who you give it to.
Political agendas or social movements.
We do have a number of things we will speak out on. We feel that you should know of these.
Limiting a person(s) of their agency
Dishonest practices in business.
Exploitation of people, their beliefs, creations or opinions.
Manipulation of history for ulterior motives or profit.
